In Morgantown, West Virginia, flat land is a premium. We live in a mountainous area where most homes are built into a hill or mountainside. Newer ranch homes are scarce in our area because they work best when built on flatter lots. You can find some ranch homes in older neighborhoods; but unfortunately, they are typically in need of updating-- and that can get expensive.
WHAT IF I WANT A RANCH HOME IN MORGANTOWN?
Vision Homes has built and continues to build in newer neighborhoods in Morgantown, such as Braden Place and Frederick Place. As previously stated, there aren’t many options for flatter lots in Morgantown, especially ones that are close to:
- & other essentials
However, the two developments mentioned above, where Vision Homes builds are mostly flat lots. These lots make it ideal for ranch homes with spacious and open floor plans.
Located in the Brookhaven area, Frederick Place is quickly starting to emerge as a nice little community. With the development being midway through the first phase, there are still flat lots available. The lots in Frederick Place are all about the same size, sitting at about an eighth of an acre.
- Level, easy maintenance home sites
- Protected community with paved streets and a post lamp at each site
- Underground utilities
- Minutes from I-68
- Close to shopping, schools and recreational activities like Cooper’s Rock
- Turnkey home packages starting at $250k
Located on Goshen Road, just a few minutes off I-68, Braden Place provides smooth, spacious one acre lots that allow its residence to spread out and build their dream home. This development features the luxury of being far enough away from the inner part of Morgantown and all its traffic, but close enough to most of your desired activities and destinations.
- 1 acre gently sloping homesites
- Protected community with paved streets and street lights
- Underground utilities
- Minutes from both I-68 and I-79
- Close to shopping, schools and recreational activities like Cheat Lake
- Turnkey home packages starting at $370k
There are still lots available at Braden and Frederick Place. However, if you happen to own land that would allow a ranch home to be built on it, we can work with that as well.
OUR FLOOR PLAN OPTIONS FOR A RANCH HOME
Vision Homes always allows our customers to personalize their homes. We have several ranch plans that we can change to meet your desires, such as:
If you like, just bring in a plan of your own, and we can work with it. Dave, our salesman, can assist you in customizing and planning out your home design. Furthermore, Dave and Twila, our closing coordinator, can help you with ideas and suggestions on your new home layout and design.
“Ranch floor plans are easy to customize since there is only one floor. Just move this room over here, add a couple feet there and so on," Dave Stanley
There are countless benefits to a ranch-style home — the accessibility of a single-story, a simple and open layout and an easy-to-maintain exterior. Whether it is an older couple looking to find a home for retirement or a young couple looking to buy their first house, a ranch style can give home owners what they are looking for. This easy-living home style is perfect for families of all kinds.
We currently have a couple ranch homes under construction.
- The first ranch home is a plan a gentleman brought in with him when he came to meet Dave.
- The second ranch home we have under construction started off as our Taylor plan.
- The third ranch home we just started was a spec home based off our Porter plan, but it quickly sold.
Each of these plans had many changes made to them before finalizing.
OUR PERSONALIZED FEATURES
With the personalization that we allow our customers to make, some choose to prioritize certain features of the house over others. Customers can choose to focus upgrades on the kitchen, including granite or marble countertops and stainless appliances. Others might focus on their master bedroom and bath. Our customers can pick and choose from all the different options we have, but just to name a few:
Some of our customers elect to upgrade to high vaulted ceilings. As a ranch home doesn’t have a second story above ground, this is a viable option. The vaulted ceiling makes the home feel larger and more spacious, adding an elegant touch to a typically laid-back ranch home.
Traditionally, ranch homes don’t have a front porch. However, we find that many of our customers love having a front porch. It’s a feature we can easily add to your ranch home, allowing you to relax outside and socialize with neighbors as they walk by.
Upgraded Exterior Styling
Traditional ranch homes have a simple exterior; however, it’s easy to upgrade and add a little more flare to suit your taste. Think elegant light fixtures, rustic wood trims, pillars, shutters and unique gable details.
It’s common for people to mix textures, giving a more interesting and dimensional look to the home. You don’t have to pick a standard red brick either — think rustic brick finishes, white painted brick — there are lots of options for you to personalize your home’s exterior.
We have had many lovely fireplaces added into our homes. Most of which have been the focal point when you walk into a living room. With beautiful stone surrounding the fireplace, it can really be an addition that makes the house feel like home.
